ಅಷ್ಟಚತ್ವಾರಿಂಶ ಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ
( ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಶಾಪ ವೃತ್ತಾಂತಃ)

ಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ತು ಕುಶಲಂ ತತ್ರ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಮಾಗಮೇ |
ಕಥಾಂತೇ ಸುಮತಿರ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ವ್ಯಾಜಹಾರ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತ್ರ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಮಾಗಮೇ ಕುಶಲಂ ಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಕಥಾಂತೇ ಸುಮತಿಃ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಂ ವ್ಯಾಜಹಾರ |

There after greeting each other and enquiring about welfare etc in the end the King Sumati addressed the venerable sage as follows.

ಇಮೌ ಕುಮಾರೌ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ದೇವತುಲ್ಯಪರಾಕ್ರಮೌ |
ಗಜಸಿಂಹಗತೀ ವೀರೌ ಶಾರ್ದೂಲ ವೃಷಭೋಪಮೌ ||
ಪದ್ಮಪತ್ರ ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷೌ ಖಡ್ಗತೂಣೀ ಧನುರ್ಥರೌ |
ಅಶ್ವಿನಾವಿವ ರೂಪೇಣ ಸಮುಪಶ್ಥಿತಯೌವನೌ ||
ಯದೃಚ್ಛಯೈವ ಗಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ದೇವಲೋಕಾದಿವಾಮರೌ |
ಕಥಂ ಪದ್ಭ್ಯಾಮಿಹ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ಕಿಮರ್ಥಂ ಕಸ್ಯ ವಾ ಮುನೇ ||
ಭೂಷಯಂತಾವಿಮಂ ದೇಶಂ ಚಂದ್ರಸೂರ್ಯಾವಿವಾಂಬರಮ್ |
ಪರಸ್ಪರಸ್ಯ ಸದೃಶೌ ಪ್ರಮಾಣೇಂಗಿತಚೇಷ್ಟಿತೈಃ ||
ಕಿಮರ್ಥಂ ಚ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠೌ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ದುರ್ಗಮೇ ಪಥಿ |
ವರಾಯುಧಧರೌ ವೀರೌ ಶ್ರೋತುಮಿಛ್ಛಾಮಿ ತತ್ತ್ವತಃ ||

ಸ|| ತೇ ಭದ್ರಂ (ಭವತು) | ಇಮೌ ಕುಮಾರೌ ದೇವತುಲ್ಯ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮೌ ಶಾರ್ದೂಲ ವೃಷಭೋಪಮೌ ಗಜಸಿಂಹಗತೀ ವೀರೌ |(ತೇ) ಪದ್ಮ ಪತ್ರ ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷೌ | ಖಡ್ಗತೂಣೀ ಧನುರ್ಧರೌ | ರೂಪೇಣ ಅಶ್ವಿನಾ ಇವ | ಸಮುಪಸ್ಥಿತ ಯೌವ್ವನೌ |( ತೇ) ದೇವಲೋಕಾದ್ ಅಮರೌ ಇವ | ಯದೃಚ್ಚಯಏವ ಗಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ | ಕಥಂ ಪದ್ಭ್ಯಾಂ ಇಹ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ | ಕಿಮರ್ಥಂ ಕಸ್ಯ ವಾ |ಅಂಬರಂ ಚಂದ್ರಸೂರ್ಯಾವಿವ ಇಮಂ ದೇಶಂ ಭೂಷಯಂತಾ | ತೇ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಾಂಗಿತ ಚೇಷ್ಟಿತೈಃ ಪರಸ್ಪರಸ್ಯ ಸದೃಸೌ |ವರಾಯುಧಧರೌ ವೀರೌ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟೌ ಕಿಮರ್ಥಂ ದುರ್ಗಮ್ ಪಥಿ. | ಶ್ರೋತುಮಿಚ್ಚಾಮಿ ತತ್ತ್ವತಃ |

"Oh Venerable sage ! May you be blessed. These two princes look like equals of Devas in prowess. They seem to equal a tiger and bull in their posture , and in their gait they resemble a lion and an elephant. Their eyes are as big as the lotus leaf. Carrrying a bow and arrows they look equals of Aswini in form and they seem to be of age appropriate to the youth. They look like those without death from the Devaloka, and came here because of our good fortune. Who are they ? Why did they come here ? Like the Sun and Moon gracing the skies they are gracing the town. They look alike in their postures and actions. Carrying best of arms why are they coming through these dense forests on foot . I am interested in knowing fully about them".

ತಸ್ಯ ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಯಥಾವೃತ್ತಂ ನ್ಯವೇದಯತ್ |
ಸಿದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮ ನಿವಾಸಂ ಚ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾನಾಂ ವಧಂ ತಥಾ ||
ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಜಾ ಪರಮಹರ್ಷಿತಃ |
ಅತಿಥೀ ಪರಮೌ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ಪುತ್ರೌ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ ತೌ |
ಪೂಜಯಾಮಾಸ ವಿಧಿವತ್ ಸತ್ಕಾರಾರ್ಹೌ ಮಹಾಬಲೌ ||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮ ನಿವಾಸಂ ತಥಾ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾನಾಂ ವಥಂ ಚ ಯಥಾವೃತ್ತಂ ನ್ಯವೇದಯತ್ |ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಜಾ ತೌ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರೌ ಪರಮೌ ಅತಿಥೀ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ಪರಮಹರ್ಷಿತಃ ವಿಧಿವತ್ ಸತ್ಕಾರಾರ್ಹೌ ಮಹಾಬಲೌ ಪೂಜಯಾಮಾಸ |

Hearing the words of the king , the sage told him about Siddhasrama as well as the killing of Rakshasas as it happened. Hearing those words of Viswamitra and delighted to have the sons of Dasaratha, the king honored the two who are fit to be honored and who are known for their prowess.
ತತಃ ಪರಮಸತ್ಕಾರಂ ಸುಮತೇಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ರಾಘವೌ|
ಉಷ್ಯ ತತ್ರ ನಿಶಾಮೇಕಾಂ ಜಗ್ಮತುಃ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಂ ತತಃ ||
ತಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಮುನಯಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಜನಕಸ್ಯ ಪುರೀಮ್ ಶುಭಾಮ್ |
ಸಾಧು ಸಾಧ್ವಿತಿ ಶಂಸಂತೋ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಂ ಸಮಪೂಜಯನ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ರಾಘವೌ ಸುಮತೇಃ ಪರಮ ಸತ್ಕಾರಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ತತ್ರ ನೀಶಾಂ ಏಕಾಮ್ ಉಷ್ಯ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಂ ಜಗ್ಮತುಃ |ಜನಕಸ್ಯ ಪುರೀಂ ಶುಭಾಂ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಸಾಧು ಸಾಧ್ವಿತಿ ಶಂಸಂತೋ ತಾಂ ಸಮಪೂಜಯನ್ |

Then Rama and Lakshmana having thus been honored spent one night in that place and proceeded to Mithila. Seeing Janaka's city, the auspicious Mithila the sages exclaimed "good" "good" and proceeded to pay their respects.

ಮಿಥಿಲೋಪವನೇ ತತ್ರ ಆಶ್ರಮಂ ದೃಶ್ಯ ರಾಘವಃ |
ಪುರಾಣಂ ನಿರ್ಜನಂ ರಮ್ಯಂ ಪಪ್ರಚ್ಛ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವಮ್ ||
ಶ್ರೀಮದಾಶ್ರಮಸಂಕಾಶಂ ಕಿನ್ವಿದಂ ಮುನಿವರ್ಜಿತಮ್ |
ಶ್ರೋತು ಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ಭಗವನ್ ಕಸ್ಯಾಯಂ ಪೂರ್ವ ಆಶ್ರಮಃ ||

ಸ|| ರಾಘವಃ ತತ್ರ ಮಿಥಿಲೋಪವನೇ ಆಶ್ರಮಂ ಪುರಾಣಂ ನಿರ್ಜನಂ ರಮ್ಯಂ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವಂ ಪ್ರಪಚ್ಛ |ಹೇ ಭಗವನ್ ಕಿನ್ವಿದಂ ಶ್ರೀಮದಾಶ್ರಮ ಸಂಕಾಶಂ ಮುನಿವರ್ಜಿತಂ | ಕಸ್ಯ ಅಯಂ ಪೂರ್ವ ಆಶ್ರಮಃ | ಶ್ರೋತುಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ |

There, near Mithila, seeing an ancient hermitage which is devoid of people, Rama asked the venerable sage as follows. " Oh Bhagavan , why is this place which is looking like a hermitage in all respects, devoid of sages ? Whose is this hermitage in ancient times? I would like to know this."

ತಚ್ಛ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಘವೇಣೋಕ್ತಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ವಾಕ್ಯವಿಶಾರದಃ |
ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ||
ಹಂತ ತೇ ಕಥಯಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಶ್ರುಣು ತತ್ತ್ವೇನ ರಾಘವ |
ಯಸ್ಯೈತದಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಶಪ್ತಂ ಕೋಪಾನ್ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ ||

ಸ|| ರಾಘವೇಣ ಉಕ್ತಂ ತತ್ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ವಾಕ್ಯ ವಿಶಾರದಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ | ಹೇ ರಾಘವ | ಹಂತ ತೇ ಕಥಯಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ತತ್ತ್ವೇನ | ಏತದ್ ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ ಯಸ್ಯ ಕೋಪಾನ್ ಶಪ್ತಂ (ಇತಿ) |

Hearing those words of Rama, the venerable sage Viswamitra who is an expert in forming sentences and who has great radiance, spoke as follows. "O Raghava ! I will answer your question. This hermitage was cursed because of the anger of a great soul".

ಗೌತಮಸ್ಯ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪೂರ್ವಮಾಸೀನ್ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ |
ಆಶ್ರಮೋ ದಿವ್ಯ ಸಂಕಾಶಃ ಸುರೈರಪಿ ಸುಪೂಜಿತಃ ||
ಸ ಚೇಹ ತಪ ಅತಿಷ್ಠತ್ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾ ಸಹಿತಃ ಪುರಾ |
ವರ್ಷಪೂಗಾನನೇ ಕಾಂಶ್ಚ ರಾಜಪುತ್ತ್ರ ಮಹಾಯಶಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಪೂರ್ವಂ ಗೌತಮಸ್ಯ ದಿವ್ಯ ಸಂಕಾಶಃ ಸುರೈರಪಿ ಸುಪೂಜಿತಃ ಆಶ್ರಮಂ ಆಸೀತ್ |ಹೇ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರ ! ಪುರಾ ಸ ಚ ಇಹ ಮಹಾಯಶಃ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾ ಸಹಿತಃ ಅನೇಕಾಂಶ್ಚ ವರ್ಷಪೂಗಾನ್ ತಪ ಅತಿಷ್ಠತ್|

"Oh Best of men! In ancient days it is Gautama's hermitage which is honoured by Devas and shone with celestial brilliance. Oh Prince ! In the old times That great soul performed penance here along with Ahalya for several years".

ತಸ್ಯಾಂತರಂ ವಿದಿತ್ವಾ ತು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಶ್ಶಚೀಪತಿಃ
ಮುನಿವೇಷಧರೋ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಮ್ ಇದಂ ವಚನಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ |
ಋತುಕಾಲಂ ಪ್ರತೀಕ್ಷಂತೇ ನಾರ್ಥಿನಸ್ಸುಸಮಾಹಿತೇ |
ಸಂಗಮಂ ತ್ವಹಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ತ್ವಯಾ ಸಹ ಸುಮಧ್ಯಮೇ ||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ಅಂತರಂ ವಿದಿತ್ವಾ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಃ ಶಚೀಪತಿಃ ಮುನಿವೇಷಧರಃ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಂ ಇದಂ ವಚನಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |ಹೇ ಸುಮಧ್ಯಮೇ ! ಅರ್ಥಿನಃ ಋತುಕಾಲಂ ನ ಪ್ರತೀಕ್ಷ್ಯಂತೇ ಅಹಂ ತ್ವಯಾ ಸಹ ಸಂಗಮಂ ಇಚ್ಛಾಮಿ |

" Once when the sage was not in the hermitage , Indra came in the garb of that sage and spoke to Ahalya as follows. " Oh beautiful one ! those who have desire do not wait for the season or time. I want to make love now"

ಮುನಿವೇಷಂ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಯ ರಘುನಂದನ |
ಮತಿಂ ಚಕಾರ ದುರ್ಮೇಧಾ ದೇವರಾಜಕುತೂಹಲಾತ್ ||
ಅಥಾಬ್ರವೀತ್ ಸುರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥೇನಾಂತರಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾಸ್ಮಿ ಸುರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಗಚ್ಛ ಶೀಘ್ರ ಮಿತಃ ಪ್ರಭೋ ||
ಅತ್ಮಾನಂ ಮಾಂ ಚ ದೇವೇಶ ಸರ್ವಥಾ ರಕ್ಷ ಮಾನದ |
ಇಂದ್ರಸ್ತು ಪ್ರಹಸನ್ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಂ ಇದಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ |
ಸುಶ್ರೋಣೀ ಪರಿತುಷ್ಟೋsಸ್ಮಿ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಯಥಾಗತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಘುನಂದನ ! ಮುನಿವೇಷಂ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ದೇವರಾಜ ವಿದಿತ್ವಾ ದುರ್ಮೇಧಾ ಕುತೂಹಲಾತ್ ಮತಿಂ ಚಕಾರ | ಅಥ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥೇನಾಂತರಾತ್ಮನಾ ಸುರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ " ಪ್ರಭೋ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾಸ್ಮಿ. ಗಚ್ಛ ಶೀಘ್ರಂ ಇತಃ |ದೇವೇಶ ಆತ್ಮಾನಂಚ ಮಾಂಚ ಸರ್ವಥಾ ರಕ್ಷ ಮಾನದ | ಇಂದ್ರಸ್ತು ಪ್ರಹಸನ್ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಂ ಇದಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ | ಹೇ ಸುಶ್ರೋಣೀ ಪರಿತುಷ್ಟೋಸ್ಮಿ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಯಥಾ ಗತಂ |

"Oh Raghunandana! Realizing that the one in the garb of the sage is none other than Indra the one with thousand eyes, the lady was bedevilled with curiosity. Then having satisfied herself she spoke to Indra."O King! I am satisfied . Please go away immediately. O Indra please protect your honor and mine too". Indra also spoke with a smile." O Lady ! I am happy I will go the way I have come."

ಏವಂ ಸಂಗಮ್ಯ ತು ತದಾ ನಿಶ್ಚಕ್ರಾಮೋಟಜಾತ್ ತತಃ |
ಸ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಾತ್ ತ್ವರನ್ ರಾಮ ಶಂಕಿತೋ ಗೌತಮಂ ಪ್ರತಿ ||
ಗೌತಮಂ ಸದದರ್ಶಾಥ ಪ್ರವಿಶಂತಂ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಮ್|
ದೇವದಾನವ ದುರ್ದರ್ಷಂ ತಪೋಬಲಸಮನ್ವಿತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ತದಾ ಏವಂ ಸಂಗಮ್ಯ ಗೌತಮಂ ಪ್ರತಿ ಶಂಕಿತೋ ಸ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಾತ್ ತತಃ ತ್ವರಂ ನಿಶ್ಚಕ್ರಾಮ ಉಟಜಾತ್ |ಅಥ ಸ ದೇವದಾನವ ದುರ್ದರ್ಷಂ ತಪೋಬಲಸಮನ್ವಿತಂ ಪ್ರವಿಶಂತಂ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಂ ಗೌತಮಂ ದದರ್ಶ |

Oh Rama ! having thus got together, being afraid that the sage Gautama may come he came out of the hermitage in a hurry. Then he saw venerable sage Gautama who is above Devas and Danavas and who has immense power of penance entering the hermitage.

ತೀರ್ಥೋದಕಪರಿಕ್ಲಿನ್ನಂ ದೀಪ್ಯಮಾನಮಿವಾನಲಮ್ |
ಗೃಹೀತ ಸಮಿಧಂ ತತ್ರ ಸಕುಶಂ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವಮ್ ||
ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಸುರಪತಿಃ ತ್ರಸ್ತೋ ವಿವರ್ಣsವದನೋ ಭವತ್ |||

ಸ|| ತತ್ರ ತೀರ್ಥೋದಕ ಪರಿಕ್ಲಿನ್ನಂ ಅನಿಲಮಿವ ದೀಪ್ಯಮಾನಂ ಸಕುಶಂ ಗೃಹೀತ ಸಮಿಧಂ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವಂ (ತಂ) ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ತ್ರಸ್ತಃ ಸುರಪತಿಃ ವಿವರ್ಣ ವದನೋ ಅಭವತ್ |

Seeing that sage who has taken bath in auspicious waters who is shining brilliantly like fire and is carrying Kusa grass and implements for puja , Indra who is killer of Trastra became one whose face is drained of color.

ಅಥ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ಮುನಿವೇಷಧರಂ ಮುನಿಃ |
ದುರ್ವೃತ್ತಂ ವೃತ್ತಸಂಪನ್ನೋ ರೋಷಾದ್ವಚನಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||
ಮಮರೂಪಂ ಸಮಾಸ್ಥಾಯ ಕೃತವಾನಪಿ ದುರ್ಮತೇ |
ಅಕರ್ತವ್ಯಮಿದಂ ತಸ್ಮಾತ್ ವಿಫಲಸ್ತ್ವಂ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಸಿ ||
ಗೌತಮೇನೈವಮುಕ್ತಸ್ಯ ಸರೋಷೇಣ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಪೇತತುರ್ವೃಷಣೌ ಭೂಮೌ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಅಥ ಮುನಿಃ ಮುನಿವೇಷಧರಂ ದುರ್ವೃತ್ತಂ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ರೋಷಾತ್ ವೃತ್ತ ಸಂಪನ್ನೋ (ಇದಂ) ವಚನಮ್ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ | ಹೇ ದುರ್ಮತೇ ಮಮರೂಪಮ್ ಸಮಾಸ್ಥಾಯ ಅಕರ್ತವ್ಯಂ ಕೃತವಾನ್ ತಸ್ಮಾತ್ ವಿಫಲತ್ವಂ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಸಿ | ಗೌತಮೇನ ಸರೋಷೇಣ ಏವಮುಕ್ತಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಸ್ಯ ವೃಷಣೌ ಪೇತತುಃ |

Then the sage spoke to Indra who is wearing the garb of sage and who is embodiment of evil actions. Oh Evil minded one ! Wearing my form you have done a thing that is not to be done. Hence you will haunted by failure. Thus as soon as he was cursed in anger by the sage Gautama ,Indra's testicles fell off on the ground.

ಅಥ ಶಪ್ತ್ಯಾ ಸ ವೈ ಶಕ್ರಂ ಅಹಲ್ಯಾಮಪಿ ಶಪ್ತವಾನ್ |
ಇಹ ವರ್ಷಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಬಹೂನಿ ತ್ವಂ ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ ||
ವಾಯುಭಕ್ಷಾ ನಿರಾಹಾರಾ ತಪ್ಯಂತೀ ಭಸ್ಮಶಾಯಿನೀ |
ಅದೃಶ್ಯಾ ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಆಶ್ರಮೇsಸ್ಮಿನ್ ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ ||
ಯದಾಚೈತದ್ವನಂ ಘೋರಂ ರಾಮೋ ದಶರಾಥತ್ಮಜಃ |
ಆಗಮಿಷ್ಯತಿ ದುರ್ದರ್ಷಃ ತದಾ ಪೂತಾ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಸಿ ||
ತಸ್ಯಾತಿಥ್ಯೇನ ದುರ್ವೃತ್ತೇ ಲೋಭಮೋಹ ವಿವರ್ಜಿತಾ |
ಮತ್ಸಕಾಶೇ ಮುದಾ ಯುಕ್ತಾ ಸ್ವಂ ವಪುರ್ಧಾರಯಿಷ್ಯಸಿ ||

ಸ|| ಸ ಅಥ ಶಕ್ರಂ ಶಪ್ತ್ಯಾ ಅಹಲ್ಯಂ ಅಪಿ ಶಪ್ತವಾನ್ | ತ್ವಂ ಇಹ ಬಹೂನಿ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ|ಅಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಆಶ್ರಮೇ ವಾಯುಬಕ್ಷಾ ನಿರಾಹಾರಾ ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಅದೃಶ್ಯಾ ತಪ್ಯಂತೀ ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ |ಯದಾ ದುರ್ದರ್ಷಃ ರಾಮಃ ದಶರಥಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಏತತ್ ಘೋರಂ ವನಮ್ ಆಗಮಿಷ್ಯತಿ ತದಾ ಪೂತಾ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಸಿ |ದುರ್ವೃತ್ತೇ ತಸ್ಯ ಅತಿಥ್ಯೇನ ಲೋಭ ಮೋಹ ವಿವರ್ಜಿತಾ ಮುದಾ ಯುಕ್ತಾ ಮತ್ಸಕಾಶೇ ಸ್ವಂ ವಪುಃ ಧಾರಯಿಷ್ಯಸಿ |

The sage having cursed Indra thus then cursed Ahalya also saying, " You will live for thousands of years in this hermitage not eating any food but living only on air. You will be doing penance unseen by any creatures. When Rama the unconquerable son of Dasaratha comes to this dangerous forest then you will purified. Oh Lady of evil action ! With his arrival as a guest , you will be rid of desires and join me happily attaining your normal form".

ಏವಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಮಹತೇಜಾ ಗೌತ ಮೋ ದುಷ್ಠಚಾರಿಣೀಮ್|
ಇಮಮಾಶ್ರಮಮುತ್ಸೃಜ್ಯ ಸಿದ್ಧಚಾರಣಸೇವಿತೇ |
ಹಿಮವಚ್ಛಿಖರೇ ಪುಣ್ಯೇ ತಪಸ್ತೇಪೇ ಮಹಾತಪಾಃ ||

ಸ||ಮಹಾತಪಾಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ಗೌತಮಃ ದುಷ್ಠಚಾರಿಣೀಂ ಏವಮ್ ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಇಮಂ ಆಶ್ರಮಮ್ ಉತ್ಸೃಜ್ಯ ಪುಣ್ಯೇ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಚಾರಣ ಸೇವಿತೇ ಹಿಮವತ್ ಶಿಖರೇ ತಪಃ ತೇಪೇ|

The highly celebrated Gautama having told that lady of evil actions left the hermitage and moved on to Himalayas which is the abode of Siddhas and Charanas in order to perform penance.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಅಷ್ಟಚತ್ವಾರಿಂಶ ಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
